From the pure silver quotation we derive the price of each fineness, shown in the table and updated in real time; it is confirmed when the order is defined.

The fineness indicates the purity of silver in parts per thousand: 999.9 means pure silver, 925 means 925 parts of pure silver out of 1000 (so-called sterling silver), 800 means 800 parts out of 1000. The remainder is made up of other metals, usually copper.

Table knives with an 800 silver handle are a composite item: the ornamental part is a silver shell with an internal resin filling and the blade is stainless steel, so they are not made entirely of precious metal and the silver has to be recovered by manually stripping them. For this reason they are not valued by weight but paid at a flat rate: € 2.00 per knife (estimated weight about 10 g per knife).
